Meeting of the Board of Directors Patterson Lake Association of Lanark Highlands

407 Hardwood Ridge Road , October 3,, 2009

In Attendance: Ted Manning, Jack Hobbs, Doug Cross, and Howard Stanley.

Regrets: Colin Cleroux and Rhodena Bell

  1. Ted called the meeting to order at 11:00 AM.

  2. The agenda was accepted

  3. Jack moved that the minutes of the Sept 6 meeting be accepted, seconded by Howard. Approved.

  4. Howard presented the treasurer’s report. There is $1416.51 in the bank. We have 48 paid members for last year and 38 for this year so far. There was discussion of any upcoming planned expenditures. – No major new expenditures are expected but provision is made for next year’s picnic event, website expenses, hall rentals and mailings. Ted noted that work would begin on the Lake Management Plan but no major expenses are anticipated. Howard moved acceptance of the treasurer’s report, seconded by Doug. Approved

  5. There was discussion of the Lake Management Plan. Ted indicated that he would begin to draft the plan over the next few months and circulate sections (with gaps where input needed) as they are prepared. He is in touch with the Township and will contact the Mississippi Conservation Authority to keep them in the loop. It is hoped to have a draft for general circulation by spring, when another consultation will take place with all Lake residents.

  6. It was noted that the culvert at the end of the Lake was scheduled to be replaced in late October. A single oval culvert with the same capacity as the two current ones will be placed at the same level as the existing culverts.

  7. There was considerable discussion regarding how to obtain greater involvement of Parsons Lane residents. We will continue to provide all residents with the newsletter and Directors will make efforts to contact some of the Parsons Lane residents personally to see if the level of participation in the Lake Association can be enlarged.

  8. There was discussion on the newsletter. Ted suggested that articles on local initiatives and services should be included – for example John Schweigert’s rock carvings, Lionel Pauze’s work with sportfishing for disabled persons, the Purdon Orchid conservatory, any other things potentially of interest to lake residents. It was also noted that over the next year we may need to get someone else involved in the production of the newsletter if Lorne wishes to reduce his level of effort.

  9. The date for the next meeting was left open. Ted will initiate the choice of the next date in the Spring (likely in March in Ottawa) unless anything comes up requiring a meeting before the Spring.

  10. The meeting adjourned at 12:30, moved by Jack, seconded by Howard.
